Specialty Fibers & Beautiful Things

Sign-ups will be available in July and August for a fun summer learning experience with specialty fibers.  This is a Cherry Blossoms Design.  It will be taught by Pam Brazell of 3 Stitches.  She brings the pattern to life using various specialty fibers within: Rainbow Gallery, Dinky Dyes, DMC, and Caron Collection.  All on 28ct Icelandic Blue linen.  This is a one-day class.  The kit fee is $125.  Note: as the shop is closed on Mondays, therefore, class will be held on … Monday, October 5th.  It will be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, from 9:30-3:30pm.  The only supplies you need to bring is scissors, everything else will be in the kit.  Unless of course you need light and magnification.  She has hers finished as a drum.  I will be placing mine on top of a box.

Hazel Blomkamp – techniques class –

away members you are going to love this one – It’s a Zoom class!

Hazel Blomkamp is an outstanding modern crewel teacher.  The Zoom class will be a Needle Lace techniques class.  This is not a project class.  You can look at her website www.hazelblomkamp.com, to see her designs.  Several ladies have taken her as a teacher in the past and all have good words to share about her, and some have signed up to take this class.  The teaching fee is $60, per person, with the HEG subsidy of $30, your cost would be $30, plus supplies.

The Zoom class will be Thursdays: Oct 22, Oct 29 and Nov 5.  Each class session will start at 9am for 4-hours.  If she feels we need a fourth class, it will be on Nov 19, after the quilt festival and before Thanksgiving.  Where else can you get at least 12 hours instructions for $30!

When you sign-up for the class, you will receive an email with the general information, which contains a supply list.  Along with information on ordering anything from her website (books, kits, etc.) as a group order, at a 25% discount.

Sign-ups close September 15th.

This is a fun design that can be finished either as a boxed stand-up or made into a festive holiday pillow.  This design is stitched in a combination of fun threads including Kreinik Braid, Silk Lamé Braid, Splendor Silk, Fyre Werks, and DMC Perle Coton.  Not only will the student learn to execute a variety of stitches, but they will also learn to attached decorative elements in order to create a fun, funky decorative holiday design.

Design size: 6” x 12”, Kit contents: Line drawn canvas, instructions with photo, all thread, attachments, and needles needed to complete the design.  Students will supply” 8” x 16” stretcher bars, battery operated light and magnification if needed, as well as the usual stitching supplies.

Sign-ups will begin now (or at the August guild meeting) and will close October 13, at the guild meeting.

Interest Sheets – In Progress

Karen Heller – Intermediate and Advance beading projects – see information in 2027 Workshops below.  I would like a few more people for the advance project: Snow White’s Jewelry Box, or we may just have the Sparkling Ruby and Emerald Wreath class.

We have a new Interest Sheet, …  Cartonnage.  This is an artform to make boxes, etc. using basically, fabric and cardboard.  This is a no needle and thread project.  Photos used with permission.  If this interests you, please sign the Interest Sheet, or email me to let me know your interest in this type of project.  This will more than likely be a Zoom class/demo/lecture, and then a separate class project.  I don’t have a lot of details worked out as I am not sure of our interest.  So, please let me hear from you!

More information on other fun classes coming soon!!  If you have questions regarding any of these or the upcoming classes, please contact me at bobbinorris09@yahoo.com, using Workshops as the subject would be helpful.  Thank you.
