GUIDELINES FOR INCENTIVE CHARMS 

HOUSTON EMBROIDERERS’ GUILD

 

CHARMS AWARDED FOR COMPLETION OF PROJECTS 

An eligible project shall be presented for a charm award in the year in which it is completed. The time when a project was begun is not a consideration; but it must have been completed in the year when the charm is awarded.

PROGRAMS: sea related charms 

This charm is awarded for the completion of a previous program which was presented at HEG.

 

LONG-TERMS: insect charms 

This charm is awarded for the completion of a long-term which was taught at HEG. 

​

WORKSHOP: sewing charms. Alternatively, a flower charm may be awarded for a workshop piece completion. This charm is awarded for the completion of a workshop piece which was sponsored by HEG. 

​

CORRESPONDENCE COURSE: heart charm 

This charm is awarded for the completion of a Group Correspondence Course. The piece need not be submitted for a critique. 

​

SEMINAR PIECE: western charm 

This charm is awarded for the completion of an EGA sponsored seminar piece. 

​

MAGIC BOOK: wizard’s hat charm.  Alternately, various other magic charms may be awarded.

This charm is awarded for the completion of 1 large or 2 smaller projects as listed in the Magic Book for the current year. If the magic piece qualifies for a different charm award, the participant may choose which charm she prefers. 

 

CHARMS AWARDED FOR COMPLETION OF SPECIAL PROJECTS 

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Heart charm. 

This charm is awarded for completion of items related to community outreach projects.

 

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS: basket charm 

This charm is awarded for stitching a piece for the opportunity knocks basket for seminar. 

 

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: house charm 

This charm is awarded for stitching 2 Habitat for Humanity samplers. 

 

EXHIBIT RIBBONS: ribbon charm 

This charm is awarded for stitching 2 ribbons for an HEG exhibit. 

 

CHARMS AWARDED FOR LEADERSHIP 

 

LEADING A PROGRAM: key charm 

This charm is awarded for leading an HEG program or series of programs. 

 

LEADING A LONG-TERM: dedication or commitment heart charm.  This charm is awarded for leading a long-term class.

 

CROWNS AND CHAIRS are awarded at President’s discretion.

 

MISCELLANEOUS NEW MEMBER: miscellaneous charm 

Bringing in 2 new primary members.

ANNUAL HEG HEART AND HAND NOMINEE 

The heart in hand charm is awarded annually to our HEG nominee. 

 

RETREAT/STAY TREAT 

Participation: year charm or charm appropriate to year’s theme.

 

BOOT CAMP – 

Attending at least 1 day: various patriotic or military themed charm.
